In loving memory of my husband E.J. McIlwaine

E.J. passed away from a heart attach on March 31,2009 leaving a legacy with our five children to carry on and keep his passion and joy of life living and strong. God had a plan for all of us, and I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to share my life and love with such an incredible husband and father. He taught me that Love is more precious than you can ever expect, that every day you can love someone more than the day before and share that experience with your children so they will have an understanding love is all about.

God had a plan even before I knew it, he let me experience near death so that I would understand that it is warm and light and their is no pain. He gave me more patience and grace so that EJ could have the best years of his life, He gave me the love of my life so I could share my experience with you, and God gave us the children that EJ always dreamed of. God put me in EJ's path so that he could have the best years even if they were few, many people look their whole lives for what EJ and I had, and what we had was a gift from God and a gift for each other.

A major plus to this session was that I was able to shoot and teach at the same time, I was able to drag Kelly along for some invaluable experience. We had way to much fun.....

A walk in the park...... Not!

So I've  been looking forward to this waterfall trip for weeks, watching the weather and mapping out sunset times with each location... Rain in the AM and cloudy for the after noon.. Perfect...... Well until we get to the gate at Anna Ruby Falls and it is closed... I mean really who closes a waterfall... So we all decide that we will visit the other falls in the area... Well think again Noelle!!!! They have closed the only road to the other falls to log some trees.... Really you would think that they would have posted this information on there website, but again no.....

Suffering from a trigger happy finger we decide to pull of to a little creek before we call the day a total bust.. 

Still needing more and seeing that the lighting is perfect we start the journey back to Atlanta in hopes of finding an open field with a barn.... As luck would have it, not a barn in sight.

EJ, seeing my disappointment suggests that we head down town to treat my trigger happy finger to some long exposure opportunities.... Prescription filled. Happy photographer. 

On our way home i needed just one more image to complete my day.

So E.J. ( loving husband and Father) and I are having a dispute on which crop is the best... Well what fun are we going to have since now the option is up to you.

Atlanta Botanical Gardens Orchid Daze: Gorgeous Meets Glass

In the spirt of all things are fun, regardless of freezing temperatures... Kelly ( my most fantastic student) and I had to venture out and see what the rage was all about... And let me tell you.... It's fantastically cold outside, so lets take a moment and thank Ford for heated seats,God for the sunshine and lack of wind and the botanical garden for making us thankful that we did dress in layers. If you looking for a little summer, check out the orchid room, but camera ready friends watch out for the scheduled misting rain.

Please enjoy the photographs and if you get the chance and can brave the cold, venture out and see these magnificent works of art face to face... You'll be glad you did.

2009 Tucker High Seniors Representatives Needed!!!!!

What Im looking for:

I need at 5 senior representatives from Tucker High to model for individual senior portrait session. This is definitely not your cap and gown shoot, I'm looking to capture who you are right know and to be able to tell your story with the photographs. I am also looking for 3 juniors to fill your shoes for next year

What's in it for you:

Free photo session and a $50 credit toward prints that you want, as well as cards with your photo to give to your friends. Plus you will be in my new gallery!

Requirements:

I must have, ( no exceptions) a signed model release from your parents if you are under the age of 18.

I just LOVE the UPS Man!!!! New toy arrived today.

This week I'm challenging myself to see texture and form, so of course I have rewarded myself with a new toy to help me in my little adventure. 

The Big Brown dropped of my new 36mm extension tube...... And yes at the exact same time as nappy time for the little ones. So I actually got 15 minuets to myself ... So don't ever think that you have nothing to shoot with in 20 feet of your front door.

Photography Class

For some time I've wanted to teach what I love, yes Photography 101 through Post. Over the last month, I have had the pleasure of mentoring a new up and coming photographer Kelly Nicole as she will be know to all her new adoring fans! So watch out New Orleans your about to get one fantastic photographer.

She shares my passion and excitement of taking the ordinary to the extraordinary in the world of photography, and fantastic personality to boot. Really, what more could you ask for!

So, Keep your eyes open for her big debut in March 2009 !!!

Perfect lighting capture, check out the wonderful highlights in Charlie's hair.

Excellent placement for visual weight, and a wonderful story telling aperture. And she totally captured the personality of the model! I mean TOTALLY!

I adore the feeling of this Black and White image, I find it very peaceful. I also like the focal point as the image draws the focus from the front of the image where the grass is, then becoming perfectly clear to expose the grass and Charlie.

I think she nailed this session!!!!!!
